I don't think castles, especially the moat and bailey types discussed in the article. Even those built of stone required maintenance to last longer than decades, especially if you want something usable and not a ruin (and at the time, any construction that's not in use would likely be dismantled, with the construction materials to be re used).
But I agree that money played a part: castles were the place from where the local lord was controlling his estate, extracting taxes from the local farms and controlling the military force that would prevent other from trying to pillage/forage on his lands.
True, which is why I said “might”. Even in the US. I only have to call ahead if I want smaller bills - $20 and $100 they usually have plenty of unless it’s a tiny branch.
Cash deposits or withdrawals over $10k in the US will be reported to the Treasury but if you don’t do them often it won’t raise a big flag, and the bank doesn’t care what you do with it. Treasury only cares if they think you are trying to evade taxes.
In Germany, where large items are often purchased with cash, it would be unremarkable if you did it several times a year.
> What’s the problem with the F35 and combat readiness?
For example, the UK would like to use its own air-to-ground missile (the spear missile) with its own F-35 jets, but it's held back by Lockheed Martin's Block 4 software update delays.
yeah, but at this point it's weird they just don't grab a studio, give them a funding for 2 years and say them 'copy the latest indie trends with a tad more polish' and let them cook to see what comes out.
They tried that, e.g. "EA Originals"[0] is basically that (there are similar programs at other major publishers). I suspect it proved to not be a big money maker at the scale required to move the needle at publishers of that size., and that they are keeping these on as a sort of prestige programs.
Stormfront users wouldn't have really been relevant for the FSF. But on a platform like Twitter, which isn't mono-subject like the Stormfront forums, would have been relevant for an organization like FSF.
And personally the few people I follow there (mostly game devs) are totally worth talking to.
