The hyperbole on this! The vulnerability, which was only present in some applications, was patched months ago. The Android docs were updated in February[0], to warn future developers. The highest risk app was Xiaomi file manager.. which you'd never install unless you bought a Xiaomi phone and didn't replace with a better option.
